I’m really late posting my entry and there are a handful that I missed. There are a few photos that I love and a few where I obviously put little effort forth. My excuse is that June was a very busy month with only one day off (which I spent preparing for a six-week trip out of town ). During the month of February (2010) I hosted the 6th Photo Hunt over at one of my other blogs, Photo Hunt Challenges. Ever since the very 1st Photo Hunt I have been choosing my favorite photos for each category and posting them together, with a poll for people to vote for their favorite. It is incredibly hard to pick favorites from after looking at all the fun photos of the Participants and very time-consuming as well. Photo Hunt #5 went up today at Photo Hunt Challenges however the site has been down all day due to an issue with the server. I had planned to post the details here anyway but I have also included the Mr Linky sign up and all the details until the Photo Hunt Challenges site is back up and running..

It is preferred that you take your photos between today (December
1st) and December 31st. If for some reason you are stuck on the 31st
without a few of the items on your list, then you can use a maximum of
two photos from your archives, as long as they were taken less than one
year ago. You ARE allowed (and encouraged!) to use Photoshop or other
photo-editing software as you’d like (it often adds to the artistic
quality of the photo).

It is up to you whether you post your photos on your blog as you go,
or wait until December 31st to unveil them and make it a surprise. One
thing I ask is that everyone who participates posts all 20 photos in
one single post on their blogs or in a set in an online gallery on
December 31st/January 1st.

A new post will go up at photohuntchallenges.com on January 1st. I
will be using the Mr. Linky auto-link widget. Anyone who completes
Photo Hunt #5 will need to add their name & the URL permalink of
where their Photo Hunt photos are posted. Everyone who adds
their name to the auto-link will have their photos considered for my
Favorites. After I go through all of the participants’ entries, I
will post my favorite photos for each of the 2o items on the list in a
separate blog post with a poll for each. Please note that I will not
include archived photos in my favorites (it hardly seems fair!) Anyone
who votes is encouraged to vote based on their favorite photo, not just
for a particular photographer. Voting is also open to anyone and
everyone. The polls are open for exactly one month from the
time I create them and I create each post as time allows throughout the
month. After all polls are closed I will compile the photos of all the
winners and will display them here on the photohuntchallenges.com blog.

If you would like to participate, please sign-up by adding your name
and blog url to the Mr. Linky widget below. This exact widget will run on both this site and photo hunt challenges, so no need to sign up twice when the other site is back up and running. If you would like to recruit others for the

The Photo Hunt Challenges that I started last April are still going strong. In fact, October 2009 was Photo Hunt #4 already. Many of you are already familiar with the Photo Hunt Challenges and some of you have even participated in some of them. (PH#1=April PH#2=June PH#3=August and PH#4=October). Every month following a challenge I go through all the participant's entries and choose my favorite photos. Then I create a separate post on photohuntchallenges.com for each item on the list and post all of my favorites in that post with a poll for people to vote for their favorites. It has been a lot of fun to see all the cool photography that the participants come up with and how they interpret the category, there is such a variety! I would love it if all of you would go take a look at check out some of the Favorites I have up so far for PH#4, like Fall Colors, Something Spooky, A Fall Treat, etc. The voting is for anyone, I just recommend that you vote for your favorite photo rather than for a specific person.

Warning: Long post ahead!

To say last week was hot is an understatement. Especially when its 90'+ and you go a week without A/C in your house. The condenser blew and it needed to be replaced with a whole brand-new unit. An expensive one (of course!), which we were not able to have installed immediately. I am grateful to have great neighbors with cold houses who gave us refuge from the heat in the evenings up until bedtime. There were way too many sleepless nights with having a bedroom on the third floor and afternoon sun beating down on it, making it at least 100'. Fans didn't do anything but blow hot air around. I was so dang miserable and exhausted from lack of sleep, I swear living without a/c is detrimental to my health! The last few nights I slept in the basement, which helped some. The good news is a new unit was installed Saturday and my house is cold again. Yay! I will appreciate it forever and ever ;)

This past week was also the first week of summer school. I am teaching 5th grade reading to my class and the other 5th grade class. Its going great so far, my kids are all very well behaved and the room is nice and cool. Summer school takes place in this building (taken on a rainy morning last week)

This is the view out of my classroom. I had been waiting for a clear day and the right lighting to get this photo all week!

Speaking of pictures, I bet you're wondering why your blog readers were filled with photo posts from me yesterday. Well, I decided to import all of my posts from my Daily photo Blog into this Mi Vida Ocupada blog. I just don't know if it makes sense to me to keep two different blogs when I post so many photos over here anyway. I have a lot more traffic on this blog and sometimes it seems redundant to post my photos in both places. Initially the point of the Daily Photo Blog was for me to challenge myself to take better photos more often and I think I have proven to myself that I can do that. Especially with all the interest in the Photo Hunt Challenges that I have been posting. Photography has become my biggest passion in recent months, completely replacing scrapbooking (which I haven't done in a year now and have lost pretty much all desire). I hope you all don't mind seeing more of my photography right here!

Now about the Photo Hunt: On Tuesday, June 30th I will be putting up a new post with Mr. Linky so everyone who completed the Photo Hunt #2 can link to their entries. I know summertime (and life in general) can sneak up on ya when you're busy, but I hope we have a good turnout of people who completed it. I have just two more photos to take on my list, then I will be posting My Results. FYI- I am in the process of creating a brand-new blog just for the Photo Hunts. Stay tuned for more information and when it is ready, I will start redirecting all Photo Hunt related info to that site.

So much happened last week and it was just too dang hot for me to sit down and blog about any of it. Biggest news of the week: Michael Jackson died. I was a little shocked at first, but not really. I guess I had a feeling he wasn't doing very good. I loved MJ as a kid (didn't everyone?). Thriller was my very first album and I loved, loved, loved every song. He has had so many great hits over the years. I never hated on him with all the drama in his adult life, although there is no doubt he had issues. I don't know what is wrong with me that I didn't cry when I heard of his passing, I mean I cried when Crocodile Hunter was killed?! Anyway, thank goodness the music of Michael Jackson will live on.
