You guys! Just when I was about to make my grand bloggin’ comeback after joining the amazing Peaceful Posse of bloggers, my 3yo got sick. Like puking-in-the-middle-of -the-night kind of sick last Tuesday. That’s how it started, anyway. I was supposed to work 13 hrs last Wednesday and again on Thursday, but staying home to take care of the kids was a bigger priority. When you’re sick (at least when you were little), don’t you just want your mama? I actually have a very strong immune system and hadn’t been sick in over a year (thank you, Plexus!), but I also got hit with it and was down for the count for a few days. It hit me as pure exhaustion, probably from getting roughly 26 hrs of sleep every week, week after week. Oh, and said three-year-old sleeping with me and breathing in my face all night- getting coughed and sneezed on. I was so tired for a few days, I can’t remember when I have slept so much. Like 12 hrs a day including naps. And I never nap! It’s been years, no lie. Oh, and I had a killer sore throat. I thought it was strep but it turns out we all had Influenza B. Tested and certified. It wasn’t fun. My poor babes had very high fever, deep chest congestion and body aches all over. It makes you feel really helpless. Blogging was the furthest thing from my mind. Forgive me?! lol. I did read threee books, however. I’ll tell you about ’em in another post.
So enough about the sickness. I need to give my blog a makeover. In the past 12 years I have probably had 137 different banners and color schemes going on this blog. The power of Photoshop is amazing, right? I like to keep things new and fresh. Unfortunately, I no longer have Photoshop and lack of blogging over past couple of years has left me stuck with this same banner for waaaaaaaaay too long. I need to do something about that, and pronto. Any ideas of how I can do a cool banner without Photoshop?? Help a sista out. Thanks 😉
Hopefully everyone is doing well!! Have a beautiful day
I was listening to my local morning show on the radio today about the difference between men vs women telling a story. Their opinion was that women give way too many unnecessary details instead of just getting to the point.
My friend Haley sums it up pretty well:
“Women are painters, set the scene, give the details and feelings. Men are pointers, nothing extra, straight to the point.”
Is this your reality? Are most men annoyed by this?
While most native Minnesotans don’t talk like the movie Fargo (unless maybe you live in the northern part of the state), we do have a distinct accent. Growing up I did not believe I had any accent, but I do, indeed ( and I’m not Scandinavian whatsoever). I could hear itespecially while living in AZ and TX. Now whenever I catch myself talking Minnesotan I laugh out loud and then I smile 😉
I’m proud of where I come from; terrible winters, strong accent and all! One of the most beautiful places on earth! #MNProud
Ahhh, my sweet, neglected blog. Oh, how I use to love thee. I miss it! I miss it a lot!
I have been thinking about blogging again for a long time but Facebook has been the front runner. Should I let that be the reason I have let this blog go? I miss the intimate audience, my old blogging circles. It seems all of us have stopped blogging for a few years now. I still use a feed-reader (I transferred all my links to Feedly from Google Reader before it went away) but it is empty soooooo much of the time. Its refreshing to see Heather and Nicole are both blogging again…. they have inspired me to get back to it as well!
I have so much to say and updates to make….. my babes are now 3 1/2 and 2yo and they haven’t ever really been a presence here on my blog. I need to record so much more than the quick status updates on FB. I want to remember it.
If anyone is still out there and finds this post in their feed-reader, please stop and say hi! I could use some encouragement to get me going!
I hadn’t sent out Christmas cards in YEARS, but this year we have one extra special reason to highlight/celebrate (Baby Bretton!) and since I didn’t send out birth announcements, I decided I needed a cute current photo of our babe to plaster onto a holiday card to send to our friends and family.
These photos I took a few weeks ago were all very cute but I did not like how the background appears behind his head so they didn’t make the cut after all!!!
I had wanted to include his cute little white owl in the pics but this is all I got because he kept playing with it and putting it in his mouth. Oh well!!
A week later I tried again and got at least one super adorable photo that DID make it onto our Christmas Card for 2013!! Stay tuned for those pics in a few weeks 😉
Yep, that’s kind of what happens when you have kids. They become your priority and life pretty much revolves around them. When I first became pregnant, I hadn’t intended for this blog to be so focused on my pregnancy and the after-math of a baby, but alas, that is what has happened! I won’t apologize for it either but I am sorry if I have scared away all of my childless blogger friends. I miss you!
In reality, my readership has gone from several people down to maybe 3 readers in the past year (and I am probably related to them all!). I attribute this more to the password protection than the fact that I post pics of my kid all the time. Oh… and the demise of Google Reader. Oh…. and the fact that I blog only sporadically these days.
Whatevs. I miss blogging and I miss all the great people I have known for years. So if you’re stopping by today, please know that I haven’t forgotten ya’ll! Say hi and let me know you’re still here 😉
Oh, how did it get to be the month of March already?? Time has been flying. That means that April and the arrival of my baby boy are just around the corner!! Yikes!! I need this month to slooooooooooooow dooooooowwwwwnn. Seriously. I need a super power that allows me to freeze time. I checked in on Facebook yesterday to see several friends posting pics of their new babies who have grown so much since they were born…. how does 3 months or 6 months pass by so quickly?? Bretton hasn’t even been born yet and I am already sad at how fast his tininess and newness will pass. Is that weird?? he is already growing so fast, I mean… look at me! I took this pic a few days ago (32wks 4 days)
I pray every day that he waits until his due date, but I know that I don’t have control over that. I know that we will be just fine if he arrives early but the truth is that I don’t want to have to go back to work at the very end of the school year. If he waits until his due date I won’t have to officially go back until the end of August 😉
So, while I welcome Spring, I hope it doesn’t come too fast
My entire blog is now password protected. If you are reading this now, I am so glad you found your way inside 😉 It was kind of a PITA ass to set up on a WordPress installed blog but I figured it out thanks to Google
Its 12-20-12 and I am sitting at home, suffering from a headache and watching Countdown to Apocalypse on H2. Tomorrow is the big day….. however it is already 12-21-12 somewhere and the world is still turning
I went and had Lobster Mac & Cheese for dinner tonight just in case it is my last meal. lol
I’ve been eating like a queen this week and it is kind of making me feel like crap.
I need to start walking regularly…. but I’m avoiding the malls until after Christmas
My holiday shopping is finished!
Last night I met my HS friends at Buca di Beppo for our annual girls holiday dinner. I’ll blog more about this next week
I have a couple of friends wanting to throw a baby shower for me sometime in March. I need to get a list of guests together….. I might as well invite everyone since I have a lot of friends 😉
Next week I hope to start planning the bedding and decor for the baby’s owl themed nursery. My mom is going to do most of the sewing for me. I can’t wait!
I need to get a couple of books to read over my winter break…. anything new I should know about?
My pregnancy is 57% complete
My baby boy loves ice cream…… it really makes him kick like a rockstar!
I did a maternity shoot for my friend Haley last Sunday. She is 36 weeks along. I’ll post a few of them later since this blog is now under lock and key
When was the last time I created a random post like this one?? Its kind of fun to ramble about random stuff 😉
My cousin Michael (Tucson, AZ) and his wife Liz had a baby boy on Monday. Welcome, Luis Antonio!
I’m still watching Apocalypse and I still have a headache so I am going to head to bed now! Good Night
Wake up, wake up, wake up…. its the First of the Month
(anyone remember this song by Bone Thugs N Harmony back in the early 90’s?!)
Anyway, November is here and therefore so is National Blog Posting Month (aka NaBloPoMo), a challenge to blog every day during the month of November.
I’ve never officially signed up to do this because that is a lot of pressure to blog every single day for 30 days, but I tried it the past two years and successfully did it both years!! Who would believe it??
Well, since I have a little more energy these days and since I have been on a good blogging streak for a few weeks now, I think I am going to make this a personal challenge to make it a third year in a row. Go 2012!
I promise that they will NOT all be pregnancy/baby posts. Don’t want to bore ya’ll even though I am excited to share most of that stuff!
So……. NaBloPoMo. Who is with me???!!! Either to read me or write on your own blogs every day!!??
It has been ages since I have done one of these Memes but I saw this on Krysten’s blog and it looked fun so here goes….
Reading: Going Home by Harriet Evans and it is long and kind of boring. 3 our of 5 stars. I don’t have a particular book picked out to read next but I have a few options on my bookshelf.
Watching: Touch with Keifer Sutherland, Revenge,
Anticipating: 6th Grade Recognition today, my cousin Heidi’s (& Tony) wedding tomorrow, and our family trip to California in two weeks for Jefanda’s (Jeff and Amanda’s) wedding!
Laughing About: The joke we tried to play on our boss this morning….. we had a staff party last night and we all sent her texts later that we got food poisoning and wouldn’t be to work today for the last day of school. Ha ha! Of course we all showed up!
Listening To: Three fans in my classroom and excited children arriving
Eating: A co-worker just brought me a pink lemonade cookie that I am going to eat when I am done with this!
Working On: Burning DVDs of the 6th grade slideshow I put together; report cards
Wishing: I had a lot more money in the bank to help me get through summer without my regular paycheck. Anyone want to borrow me $10k pretty please?
Okay, so I took your advice and called Art of Beauty about the Zoya polishes that ruined my nails. They told me they have never had a complaint about anyone’s nails peeling before and are stumped about what ingredient is in the polish that could do this to my nails.
I paid $62 for the polishes (including shipping) and they said they would take back any that I have not yet used but charge me a 30% re-stock fee after I pay to ship them back. So the refund would only be $33 minus cost of shipping them back. I decided that was not an acceptable offer so I am not going to send them back.
The customer representative at Zoya is sending me a 1 oz bottle of the Zoya polish remover to try. I am pretty sure my polish remover is Formaldehyde-free but it is possible that it was the remover that did the damage to my nails and not the polish?????
About a month ago I was contacted by a lovely painter from Canada named Linda Wilder. She had come across my Restaurant Blog photos and was interested in using them as a “reference” point for some of her paintings. How could I say no to that??!! I told her I would love to see any of the paintings she has created based on my photos and she has already sent me two.
Here is one of my photos, followed by the painting created by Linda Wilder
Cool, right??!!! They are not copies, just inspiration.
Ugg. Don’t you hate it when you have eight million things going on and you just don’t have time for it all?? I feel that way nearly every day of my life. So much to do, so little time. Here we are on March 22 and there are so many things I would like to blog about from the past couple of months, but the truth is I often don’t have time to do the things that won’t make me money. lol. Sad, right? Rather than blogging here, when I do have the time, I am usually writing restaurant reviews at Twin Cities Restaurant Blog. It’s all good, I will be back when I can and update a little better.
I hope everyone is doing well, I haven’t been reading any blogs for weeks now. I miss ya’ll!
I am pretty streaky when it comes to blogging and I have just had too many other things going on lately. This week I have been on spring break from work but have been occupied with all sorts of blogworthy stuff, but I haven’t gotten around to blogging. The weather has been beautiful, we are starting a painting project house-wide and also going on a little stay-cation at Mystic Lake later this week. After that there is a ton of work to be done!
Feast your eyes on my pretties….soon to be in my mailbox and then on my toes 🙂
I had several additional colors in my cart but since the deal was Buy 3, Get 3 Free, I put several of them back.
I feel fully justified spending $30 on brand-name nail polish, especially considering I do my own pedicures every two weeks. Ang has hyped this stuff up for years and once she posted on Facebook about the B3G3F, I couldn’t resist. This will be my first time trying any Zoya polish, I have high expectations. I will let ya’ll know what I think 😉
