My cousin Kevin and his sweetie married at Dellwood Hills Country Club on August 16, 2014. It was a very HOT and HUMID day for an outdoor wedding but luckily the reception was indoors where it was much, much cooler 😉
I just got a new camera the week before the wedding and this was my first real chance to use it. After 5 months being camera-free I had gotten out of the swing of being the family papparazzi and didn’t get as many shots as I would have liked. Here is the collection of what i DID get:
Jeff and Amanda were in town 😉
My cousins Tyler and Daniel were also both in town from Arizona; here are the guy cousins in attendance
Daniel brought his gf Cortney with 😉
Ty and I
The food was really good; stuffed chicken or beef tenderloin
The bride and groom enjoying their first dance…
My uncle Bob and aunt Chris
This was my 5th or 6th straight wedding being pregnant….. I called it a night early 😉
My sixth wedding this season was that of my dear friend Kim and her husband, Brent. This wedding was a long-time coming and it was wonderful to see the two of them tie the knot after a long journey together. Many of you may remember that their son Jake is visually impaired (we had a benefit for him back in 2009). Well, if that wasn’t challenging enough, Brent was diagnosed with cancer just two weeks after they got engaged (August 2010). He was very sick for a long time and all wedding plans were put on delay until he was on the mend. After a long battle and many, many surgeries, chemo and radiation, Brent is finally doing better and they were able to move forward with their wedding plans.
I was one of Kim’s bridesmaids and therefore I was unable to take any photos during the nuptials. I did, however, take a few photos of the details before the ceremony began. They were married in the Event Tent at the Mermaid Entertainment Center and their reception was in the Atlantis Ballroom. It was very pretty!
Our friend Leah did everyone’s hair. Here we are getting ready before the wedding….
I had Mary take an Instagram of me

And now the reception….

I had the most fun at the very end of the night when all the bridemaids and groomsmen were out on the dance floor, getting our groove on. We all love to dance!
Brent and his friends are really good dancers! It was fun to watch them.
Us girls (Lanee is in the background fixing her hair??!!)
It was a great wedding and I am so very happy for Kim and Brent!!
I could go on and on about the awesomeness of Jeffanda’s reception; the food and desserts were amazing, some of the best wedding food you could have. And they had an OPEN BAR (anything goes!) the ENTIRE NIGHT (6pm-12am). This mama-to-be didn’t touch a drop of alcohol, of course 😉
The best part of the reception was the fact that tons of my family members on both my mom and dad’s sides were able to make it!! I LOVE my family and feel so blessed that it is so big. My dad is from a family of seven siblings and my mom a family of eight siblings. Not everyone was able to make it but there was still a great turnout, especially the Sauer side.
I will start with photos from my dad’s side of the family since I hadn’t seen them since Heidi & Anthony’s wedding back in June.

The fourth of which I was able to attend was on Sept 21st for my cousin PJ and his fiance, Allisa. (My other weddings were all family weddings as well! 1. Heidi & Anthony, 2. Jeff & Amanda 3. Dave & Lindsay. My aunt Carol was also married in June on the same day as Heidi and Tony but I couldn’t be in two places as once).
PJ and Allisa had a Friday afternoon ceremony at The Refuge Golf Club in Oak Grove, MN. The weather that day was one of on-off rain and sunshine. Luckily the rain went away and the sun came out within a half hour of their outdoor ceremony. (Insert sound of angels singing here! lol)
After the ceremony they had a very nice reception inside the Golf Club with cocktail hour, dinner and then dancing. A photobooth was also set up with the customary props….
Me and Amanda (Too bad this is blurry but that’s what happens when I pass my camera to someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing)

It was a fun time and although we stayed until nearly the end, we all had to get some rest that night to get ready for the next day’s party…. Jeff and Amanda’s reception!! Yes, back to back wedding celebrations!!! More on that to follow….
PS This wedding will be forever memorable for another reason….. more on that to come as well 😉
Wedding #4 of the season has come and gone! (#1= Heidi & Tony 6-09-12 * My aunt Carol & her husband Chris also got married June 9th but I couldn’t attend both * #2= Jeff & Amanda 6-25-12 )
On August 18th, 2012, my younger cousin Dave married his long-time sweetheart, Lindsay. The two of them went to school in Arizona where they lived for many years before moving to Seattle, which is where they currently live (I think, anyway!). She is a teacher and he is a golf pro…. both are from Blaine, MN and their families still live here.
The wedding was at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Blaine. They had an outdoor wedding (the weather cooperated!) and indoor reception. Everything was beautiful!
The happy couple, Lindsay and Dave.
This is Dave’s younger brother and Best Man, Kevin. Isn’t he handsome? It is his birthday today, 9/11. Happy Birthday Kevin!
The pretty bridesmaids (third from left is my cousin Cassie)…
Now on to the reception! Always fun when you have a ton of cousins. I hadn’t seen this side of the family ( my mom’s) for awhile…
Here is me with my niece Bianca. You’ve probably seen this photo on FB… its currently my profile pic

Now onto the dance! The Bride & Groom….
Dave with his mom, Chris
My mom is a Dancing Queen
This photo cracks me up…. could my parents who have been married 39 years dance any further apart??!! lol. This is like a Jr. High School dance! ha ha. My dad is concentrating on not letting his two left feet step all over my mom! lol
Okay, I am tired of posting photos now so I guess that’s all ya get tonight!
Wedding Dinner in the Wine Cave at Kunde Family Estates
Awhile later the limo brought us all back down to the base of the mountain where we were able to enter the Wine Caves.

The kids were as adorable as ever as they waited just outside the wine cave…
Inside row after row looks like this…
We made our way back to a special little area

The room was lit (and heated) by candle-light
Do you see this gorgeous centerpiece? This lovely creation was an idea Amanda had seen somewhere. The morning of the wedding, several of us women (Amanda, Me, my mom, LaShara, Cristina, and Mandy) helped Amanda put it together with flowers she ordered online. It looked gorgeous!

The five-course dinner was lovely….
Summer Melon Gazpacho
Layered Heirloom Tomato Salad
Roasted Red Pepper Ravioli (to die for!)
Roasted Karobata Pork Chop with Smoked Apples
Ice cream sandwiches
We heard a couple of great speeches and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
It was a wonderful day and I feel blessed to have been able to join them.
The celebration of Jefanda’s union continues….. I look forward to their big reception this September at Metropolitan Club at Target Field!
If you’d like to read about the rest of my trip to California, here ya go!
Its been a couple of months now since my little brother Jeff married his soul mate Amanda (together they are known as Jefanda!). Both of our immediate families were in attendance for the ceremony at Kunde Family Estates in Kenwood, CA. It was a sunny, breezy day down at sea level which means it was very windy at an elevation of 1,053 ft (which is the elevation of the mountain top according to my Elevation app!)
As soon as the limo brought us to the top of the mountain, we were met with glasses of wine, which we were encouraged to enjoy during the ceremony. How cool is that?! We took a few photos and then waited for the bride to make her entrance.
These photos are a mix of the ones I took and the ones that the professional photog, Sherman Chu, took.
First, check out the view. This is where they got married! I took this panorama which has 7-8 photos stitched to create this. It is a HUGE image, click on it to make bigger at Flickr.
Before the ceremony….. (very cold and very windy at the top of the mountain!)

It was a beautiful day and Jeff and Amanda looked so happy! It was an honor to be there to celebrate with them.
Next I will be blogging about the awesome wedding dinner….. in a wine cave!
June 9th was a hot and beautiful day, but nothing was as beautiful as my cousin Heidi on her wedding day. A funny little story how Heidi and Tony met…… Heidi was literally “the girl next door”, as her family and Tony’s family live right next door to each other in St Cloud. They started dating over a decade ago when they were in HS, then did the long distance thing as they went away to separate colleges. Despite the distance their love continued to grow and they had a picture-perfect wedding in St Cloud to officially start their life together.
Heidi and Tony were married at Church of Saint Paul, which is the Catholic church that all seven of the Sauers (my dad and his siblings) were baptized and raised. Tony’s family is from Nigeria and they were able to find a Nigerian Catholic Priest living in Chicago to come to St Cloud and do the mass and ceremony. It was extremely long and I couldn’t understand a word the priest said in his thick accent, but it was great to see Heidi and Tony make their vows to each other. I didn’t get many good photos during the ceremony because I forgot to bring my zoom lens with but I took a ton at the reception. All 18 of the cousins were there and we had a blast!!!
Here is my uncle (and Godfather!) Steve walking Heidi down the aisle
In between the ceremony and the reception, about 10-12 of us went to Cowboy Jack’s to kill time and enjoy Happy Hour. Very cool place! They are putting one Downtown Minneapolis next 😉
You ready for a bunch of family photos now?
Me with cousins Jennifer, Heidi and Katie. I’m the shorter (5’7″) chubby one. I have some gorgeous cousins!

They had a photo booth set up with all sorts of props. Fun times!
I may have mentioned awhile back that I flew home from Austin and on just a few hours sleep, I was up bright and early the following morning to tag along with my SIL Michelle as she did the photography for the wedding of my friend and colleague, Melissa. Melissa and I taught at the same school for the past three years (and neither of us will be at that school next year). Last spring when she asked if I would be willing to photograph her wedding or knew someone who would, I was happy to refer her to Michelle (who does weddings only on a very minimal basis). I am nowhere near qualified to shoot a wedding. That is hard work! I did however, enjoy being there on Melissa’s wedding day and being part of catching her memories. I have found I am ill-equipped with not only skills but also the actual photography equipment (lenses, flash, etc), but it was a great learning experience. I even managed to get some decent photos! Be sure to check out the Michelle’s Sneak Peek of Melissa & Ben’s Wedding. Gorgeous!
This handsome little guy is Melissa and Ben’s son.
The reception followed immediately after the ceremony < Puerto Rican Style Fun!!>
I took many photos at the reception but I am only going to post this one of me with Denise and Noemy. These two have been BFFs since Jr. high and I was lucky enough to meet Noemy a few years ago through Denise (who is not only my next door neighbor but also one of my besties). I love these girls!!
Last week my dear friend Noemy married Traves, the Love of her Life and I was appointed official wedding photographer. My sweet SIL Michelle gave me a quick tutorial and let me borrow her "old" camera, a Canon DSLR to take photos and for a first-timer, they turned out pretty good! I have been waiting all week to post some of the beautiful photos of the wedding party but wanted to make sure Noemy saw them first. As of last night the bride has finally seen her photos, so I am now able to share them with you!
Wedding season has slowed down considerably for me over the past couple of years but I happened to attend a really nice wedding this past Saturday. The bride and groom were blessed with a beautiful day, considering that most of last week had been overcast. The reception was at a golf course on the Mississippi River. Beautiful! Check out more pics on my daily photo blog It was nice chatting with the ladies Enjoying a gorgeous sunset… Loving summer time!
I wanted to quickly say Happy Anniversary to my parents who celebrated 36 years of marriage today. I don't think they read this blog but I wanted to recognize this special date anyway 🙂 Here are my parents on their wedding day (5-19-73)
Mom and Dad,
I love you! Thanks for always loving and being so good to each other 🙂
It was a cold but sunny day for Sally's wedding! I have known Sally since my freshman year of college. We first met because her cousin Laura (blonde), lived next door to me in the dorms (with Farrah) and became a very good friend of mine. Laura (brown) lived next door to me on the other side. The Lauras and I got an apartment together our sophomore year. We all hung out together all the time. Junior year, Sally and some of her friends moved into the apt. across the hall from us. We were all together every single day- the most fun days of our lives! I moved out a year earlier than the other girls (I moved to AZ) and when I did, Sally took my room. Sally and many of the other girls were roommates even after college, until they all started getting married. Sam, Sally's new husband, used to live downstairs from us in that same apartment building. There were only 8 (4 bdrm) apartments in the building, so we all got to know each other pretty well. Sally and Sam were friends back then and maybe even smooched a couple of times. They didn't see each other again until about a year and a half ago when they reconnected online! They started dating, fell in love and the rest is history!!! I only took a fraction of the photos I would usually take because my camera kept dying, but here are a few. They were married at Assumption Catholic Church in St Paul, the same place where D & D were married.
And then my camera died! I will add more pics later when I get the rest from Laura!
The reception was a lot of fun. It was great to have all the college girls and Sally's fun friends together. Many of Sam's old college roommates (the guys who lived downstairs from us) were also at the reception. I hadn't seen or thought about some of these people in 10 years, what a blast from the past!
It was a beautiful, somewhat cool day on Saturday for Darrell & Denise's wedding. They were married at the gorgeous Assumption Catholic Church in St Paul.
We had a limo for the evening with our other awesome neighbors and good friends, Jere and Shannon…(Thanks again for setting that up, Shannon!) It was nice to have all that space for just four people!
We made a stop at Il Vesco Vino for appetizers and drinks before the reception. I will be doing a review very shortly! The restaurant is in an old converted mansion, with a gorgeous patio and gardens.
The reception was at Christo's in the Union Depot.
The dinner was awesome! The dessert was even more fabulous (Milopita~ Glazed apple slices baked in phyllo with ricotta and cream cheese ) …. too bad I never got to eat more than a bite of mine before it was cleared away 🙁
One of my FAVORITE parts of the evening was the Mariachi Band. They serenaded everyone throughout dinner. I love Mariachis!!!
I spent the night "getting low, low, low" and "dropping it like its hot". I love to dance! My dang feet hurt so dang bad by the end of the night!(And my whole body hurt the next day when I woke up! LOL)
We all had fun dancing…..
Pics of me with the Bride…….
We stayed at the party until the very end and then Darrell and Denise jumped in the limo with us and we all went back to our neighborhood. The bride and groom left just a few short hours later for their honeymoon 😉
Words almost can't explain the emotions of having everyone together to celebrate my Gram & Gramps 60th Anniversary. My camera broke again but I was able to get some pictures from my dad and also from my cousin Dan….
My Gram and Gramp with 7 of their children….. (Don't you hate it when there are a million papparazzi around so no one knows where to look??!!
My Gram and Gramp with 18 of their grandchildren (I am #1)…..

Cousins Dave, Andrea and Cassie….
Tyler, Segen, Brian and Bennett

My cousin Casey and his girlfriend…
Aunt Connie and cousin Genevieve
My mom and Annika….
We socialized for a couple of hours before dinner and then after a yummy dinner we had our "entertainment" portion of the program, with my brother Jeff as the MC. He gave a great speech (I will replace this shaky, crappy-quality video with the hi-def version after I get it from my dad)
The speech is kind of a tearjerker toward the end and if that wasn't enough sentimentality, next came my 49-minute-long video which included the interview/slideshow that I worked on all of last week (and months before that, scanning photos!). Definitely a tear-jerker! Everyone loved it and they definitely appreciated that I made them all copies of the DVD to keep. Other than being a very hot, muggy day, the party was a hit and I can't imagine not being there to spend the special day with all of my mom's side of the family 🙂
